The VIA Framework
This 20-question VIA Character Strengths Questionnaire is designed to identify your signature strength - the one of eight that most reliably shows up in how you actually work and live. It gives a directional reading in around twelve to fifteen minutes, drawn from the VIA Classification of Character Strengths and Virtues developed by Peterson, Seligman, and a team of fifty-five social scientists under the auspices of the positive psychology movement.
Each of the eight strengths represents a positive, substantially stable disposition expressed in how you think, feel, and act. There is no hierarchy among them - the strongest strength is simply the one that most often shows up first when you have a choice in how to respond. The twenty scenarios in this version cover a wider range of professional moments than the ten-question variant and use more subtly differentiated options, so the reading they produce tends to be more stable.
There are no right or wrong answers. For each scenario, choose the option that most closely resonates with how you would actually respond - not how you think you should respond, and not the version of yourself you are working towards.
