    An Intro to Storytelling

Storytelling is the ability to make 1+1=3 combining form and content in a way that is more than the sum of the two.

Storytelling is an everyday practice that - consciously or unconsciously - we all do all the time, with our family members, with colleagues with friends at the bar.  Yet, storytelling is much more than what we usually think.  This is an introduction to start taking storytelling seriously.

    MIA | Composition

Montage is the first lesson in building a visual literacy and can be approached both as a self-standing activity and the first component of the MIA course.

MIA stands for the Meta-Image App, and this is the thoroughly enhanced version of the App that the Quintin Hogg Trust generously funded while I was leading the Digital and Interactive Storytelling LAB at the University of Westminster in London, UK.

MIA has five modules.  These can be engaged in any order, yet I would advise to follow the order they are presented with: Montage, Composition, Aesthetics, Storyboarding and Story-showing.

MIA has been translating my expertise as a professional photographer and university lecturer into a consequential course to develop foundational competencies in visual literacy, and it continues to evolve to respond to the latest requirements of today's digital cultures.

    Welcome to Montage!

    MIA 1.0

MIA is the first comprehensive course that I present on massimedia.

MIA stands for the Meta-Image App, and it is the result of the research that the Quintin Hogg Trust generously funded while I was establishing the Digital and Interactive Storytelling LAB at the University of Westminster in London, UK.

MIA offered me the opportunity of translating what I had learnt as a professional photographer and university lecturer into a dedicated App for university teaching and, as this version proves, professional training.

MIA has five modules.  These can be engaged in any order, yet I would advise to follow the order they are presented with: Montage, Composition, Aesthetics, Storyboarding and Story-showing.

    Let's get started!

    The Art of Pitching

The Pitch is a line of talk that attempts to persuade someone, with a planned presentation strategy of a product or service, to initiate/close a sale.

Pitching is an everyday practice spanning from all professional fields to the most personal ones.  At a first date, you surely will pitch yourself to the other person.  Therefore the Pitch is extensively treated across all courses at massimedia.training, as indeed it represents a foundational storytelling competence.

    The Persona

The Persona is a key concept across all communication-driven fields: it is foundational from marketing to writing as well as from storytelling to pitching.

The Persona is different from the 'Audience:' it partly overlaps with that notion but screams for much more.  Equally it is much more subtle and articulated as it requires to go beyond data to craft a multitude of functions into a coherent and challenging portrait.
